Radiographic Assistants work closely with radiographers, ultra-sonographers and consultant radiologists in providing quality care to patients attending for diagnostic procedures. We are looking for individuals who have a flexible approach to working, are caring, kind and compassionate, and happy to work as part of a large but inclusive team.

As a radiography assistant or imaging support worker, you'll work with the above professionals to:

  • process film images

  • order stocks of consumable items

  • help with procedures such as biopsies

  • make sure the working environment is clean and hygienic

  • prepare patients for imaging or treatment, including lifting patients

  • check the equipment and report faults

  • input data

    Radiography assistants and imaging support workers need to be:

  • very safety conscious

  • interested in technology

  • calm and reassuring

  • able to understand and follow instructions exactly

  • physically fit as the job involves a lot of standing and lifting

  • confident working on computers

    You'll also need:

  • good communication skills

  • good observation skills

  • ability to keep up to date and learn new skills

    The role involves working from 8am to 8pm with a variety a shifts covering these hours 7 days a week to provide a top quality service to the people of Devon. The post holder will rotate between working in our ultrasound rooms, MRI scanners, CT scanners, General X-ray rooms, Special procedures and within our PACs (Image Archiving) team.
