Clinical Research Nurse in the NIHR Exeter Clinical Research Facility
An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust (Wonford) to work in the NIHR Exeter Clinical Research Facility (CRF) research team.
The post holder will support the safe conduct of research for studies that fall within our portfolio covering many disease areas. We specialise in experimental medicine and Early Phase clinical trials and cover many areas such as diabetes, vascular health, cardiovascular disease, respiratory conditions, dementia and addictive behaviours.
The post holder will work within the research team to plan, implement, organise and manage concurrent joint research projects between the Royal Devon and Exeter and the University of Exeter Medical School. Organisational and collaboration skills are paramount as s/he will need to develop and nurture networks with multidisciplinary teams across the Trust, the University, Devon Partnership Trust (DPT) and other appropriate local and national agencies. The post holder will be required to promote research with patient support groups and at Research meetings so a driving licence is desirable.
The post holder will work with healthy volunteers and individuals with medical conditions. They will have a strong working relationship with and support of Principal Investigators and other members of the CRF, Clinical Research Network (CRN) and University teams.
S/he will coordinate and manage studies and will deliver recruitment in line with performance and monitoring objectives. Our studies have a mixture of complex commercial and non-commercial/academic studies some of which may have a substantial genetic element.
The post holder will be responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the clinical requirements associated with research to ensure optimum delivery of clinical trials. S/he will ensure that all research procedures are conducted according to study protocols and will be accountable for the recruitment, data collection and care of research participants with a focus on providing a quality experience.
Experience in research nursing is essential. Applicants should be able/willing to perform venepuncture, cannulation and Immediate Life Support (ILS).
Applicants should be able to express their enthusiasm and commitment to the role and will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to organise, prioritise and adjust their workload in relation to the requirements of multiple studies.
